National Informatics Centre

National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is the technology partner of the Government of India. NIC was established in the year 1976 with the objective to provide technology-driven solutions to Central and State Governments.

National Informatics Centre, under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology of the Government of India, is a premier Science and Technology organization.
National Informatics Centre is providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including Nationwide Communication Network for decentralized planning, improvement in Government services and wider transparency of national and local Governments.
National Informatics Centre is implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments. NIC endeavors to ensure that the latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users. It is one of the total solution providers to the Government and is actively involved in most of the IT enabled applications.

NIC Mandate is:

  • Technology partner of the Government
  • Design and Develop IT Systems for the Government
  • Provide ICT Infrastructure to the Government
  • Explore & Advise on use of Emerging Technologies
